SkyCaddie golf distance measuring devices will first and foremost help you to understand the distances of your own shots. This will not only make it easier for you to find out if your shot was too long or too short, but it will also give you a much better understanding of the consistency of your swing. With this knowledge in hand, you can also better judge the distance from where you are standing to different targets on the course and know exactly how many shots it might take to get there.
Our team picked out and tested five SkyCaddie devices to help you get the most out of every swing. From the basic SkyCaddie SG 5 GPS Unit to the highly-advanced SkyCaddie SX500 Handheld Golf GPS, our team reviewed each device, looked at its features and a host of other areas in an effort to find the best SkyCaddie GPS golfing aid for your game.
It’s easy to ignore some of the smaller golf learning upgrades and improvement opportunities that are around us in such abundance these days: swing improvement apps on your smartphone, new methods of driving range balls or aiming during a practice round—these things can definitely help, but they’re not often enough just by themselves to make sure you’re making any significant progress in real terms.
A great tool for golfers, though, is a device known as the golf measuring tool and SkyCaddie offers compact units that can measure speed, distance and angle of shot in an instant and in numerous ways. Let’s take a look at our picks for the top five SkyCaddie devices and their features and see for yourself how they made it to our list.

SPECIFICATIONS ⛳️ Golf’s largest & most brilliant high definition 5” touch screen
| |
WHAT WE THINK: | |
The SX500 is the most powerful way to measure yardage while providing the "best view" in golf with vivid graphics and super large numbers you can trust, thanks to its 5-inch high-definition touch screen and ultra-fast multi-core processor.
The SX500 is equipped with the industry's largest battery to provide extended playtime. When operating in dense tree cover, the accuracy and overall performance of SX500 have improved thanks to the use of multi-constellation satellite navigation systems (SX500). As you move from the tee toward the green, the SX500's powerful processor allows sky Caddie to introduce "dynamic holes," which automatically re-orient the entire golf hole based on your current location.

WHAT CUSTOMERS THINK: | |
“Battery is astonishing. The ability to pick your layup locations or know the yardage to an area around the 150 mark when you're in the trees is unparalleled. The scorekeeping and stat tracking are first-rate and easy to use. Things they could improve on. The "lock" button should be a harder press. It inadvertently is depressed, unlocking the screen sometimes while putting it in your pocket. Yes, I know some guys will leave it in the cart, but I like it in my pocket when I'm in the trees and stuff or away from my playing partner. The charging port (micro USB) is garbage (read the reviews). I had read the reviews and decided to take a chance on it with the extended 2-year warranty. I haven't had a problem "yet,” but it is a little wonky. I expect better for this money. The scorekeeping ability could be improved by being able to keep your playing partners’ score as well (like the Garmin). Overall. Great GPS. Best I've ever owned, and I've owned them all over the last 20 years. The size is also about perfect. Way bigger than the Garmin g80 but not so big you can't put it in your pocket. For reference, it is almost the exact same size as my Google Pixel 2 with its case on it.”
PROS ✅ Its 5-inch HD Touch Screen has the best zoom feature
| CONS ❌ You still have to pay annual subscription fees
|
SPECIFICATIONS ⛳️ Includes 3 Year Prepaid Membership to over 35,000 preloaded ground verified courses

WHAT CUSTOMERS THINK: | |
“Just purchased the SG5 Skycaddie after owning the SG4, and I like this color GPS. It is especially handy on courses I have never played, and it is accurate. I find I use it most often when I approach a hazard, and it helps me decide if I can clear the obstacle or lay up. In my opinion, it saves 4-5 strokes a game. The accessories (car charger, mount, etc.) can be pricey, but you can get great deals online. You must buy a yearly subscription for a minimum of $29.95 which provides courses for your state only. For approximately $20 more, you can get all the courses for the U.S. One of my minor complaints is they will provide a Beta upgrade of the basic operating system for another $15-20. I think this should be provided free (this provides an enhanced view of the course, and it will allow you to download up to 20 courses on your GPS (normally, you can download only ten courses at any one time)). Because Skycaddie is coming out with a new, pricier model, you can get the SG5 at a great price. I was able to buy mine for $200 through Amazon, and I think it is a great buy! Trying to get phone support can be difficult, but you can send them an e-mail, and they will respond in a day or so. It may try your patience, but many of my friends have succeeded in getting their systems up and running.”
PROS ✅ A fully charged battery can last 14 hours of continuous play
| CONS ❌ The color screen may be a little harder to read in bright sunlight
